Dream a Little Dream with Me

Have you stopped dreaming? Do you have a dream but don’t think you have what it takes to follow it? I know where you have been and almost everyday that thought runs through my mind again.

A couple years ago God placed a dream on my heart…to see young women in high school flourish in a relationship with Jesus and fall in love with his Word. I kept scanning the horizon of our church for other women to step into leading this charge and was disappointed when others didn’t step up.

Then I wondered if God was asking me to. But surely not me right? I’m too old? Not chill enough. (“chill” I have learned is the modern day version of “cool”) What will I say? What will we talk about? Even if they show up once will they show up again? Certainly I am not able.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV

God is able. He is capable of doing immeasurable things in and through us. Other ways to say immeasurable are in over abundance or beyond all measure.

God can do abundantly more than we could ever dream of in accordance with his strength, power, and ability. If we listen and follow Him step-by-step, his power is operating and in action within us!

Amazingly, the girls show up early in the morning. They blow me away. Every time we meet, I witness a different miracle of God. They readily speak powerful words of encouragement to lift one another up. They care for each other and their friends who don’t know Jesus and invite them to youth group. They post their prayer requests on Facebook and respond by praying for one another. Five of them took the bold step of baptism and shared their story in front of our church.

They have bring me to overwhelming tears. I experience God through them and am transformed. I would have never conceived or imagined what God might have done in His strength and ability. To God alone, be the credit and honor and glory!

So go ahead. Sit down with a pen and paper. Fix yourself a warm cup of coffee. Light a candle and ask God what he might want to do through you. He’s waiting. He saying dream a little dream with me and just watch what I can do with it.

Lord, Help me listen to the dreams you have for me. Father, help me to see your strength and power working in me and through my life. Give me the vision and courage to follow you and to take one step with you. Help me to know what is at stake if I don’t.
