Do you feel delighted in?

Do you feel delighted in?

Delight. What a great word. Say it aloud with me delight. It’s hard to say without the corners of your mouth curling up to smile. What do you delight in? I take delight in my sons’ smiles, a piping hot mug of dark roast coffee in the morning, or an intense summer sunset.

What do you delight in? Who do you delight in – your friends, your parents, your spouse, or children?  Who delights in you? Does it feel as if no one delights in you? Do you think only a few individuals enjoy your company? Does it seem like no one would stop to celebrate you?

Well, I’m here to spill the beans, uncover the secret, and remove the cotton balls out of your ears. The Lord, he delights in you! The King of Kings, Master-craftsman of creation, All-powerful God, he singles you out as His treasured daughter and delights in you.

Did you hear that? God takes great delight in you. (Zephaniah 3:17)

When you think of God’s delight, you might think of his love. But acknowledge that God’s unconditional love can get interchanged with an understanding of an earthly-conditional love. Earthly love is on-again, off-again, in-and-out-and-upside-down love. But God’s love couldn’t be farther from that reality.

God’s love is unending and unrelenting. God’s love is lively, active, and affecting. His love has, is and always will be one-sided flowing from the depths of his being into the well of your soul. God’s love is shown through his delight in you!

The Lord your God is with you,

He is mighty to save.

He will take great delight in you,

He will quiet you with his love,

He will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

There is so much more this verse holds for us. God’s delight in you to be continued…
