Need to be Rescued?

Need to be Rescued?

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair!” In all great love stories, there seems to be a valiant and victorious rescue. Sword drawn. Horse charging. Prince Charming. Dangerous rescue. Fair maiden. You might have imagined yourself in that tower at one time or another. However you are finding that in real life you have been waiting… waiting… waiting… for your knight in shining armor to come.

BREAKING NEWS: HE HAS! The second phrase in Zephaniah 3:17 says, “He is mighty to save.” In the New Living Translation it reads, “He is a mighty savior.” God is not just your Father but he is your mighty warrior.  He is your prince charming and his delight is exhibited in your valiant and victorious rescue.

What has the Lord rescued me from? For starters, God has rescued me from death, despair, and discouragement.  About a year ago, I endured a season of paralyzing isolation. My children’s sickness passed from one, to the other, and back-again. It felt as if I would never leave the house.  In the late afternoon, I would find myself on my couch just sitting there unable to move. I had no motivation to pick up the many toys scattered about. I had no desire to discern what to cook for dinner much less get up and start doing it.  I was motionless despite my children’s cries for me and was flooded with feelings of guilt.

I was stuck, overwhelmed by the moment and my feelings. Weeks passed and slowly through counseling and sunshine, he helped me move again. He rescued me from my debilitating despair and discouragement.

What has the Lord rescued you from? What are you needing him to still rescue you from? Ask him. He says that he is a mighty savior. The Lord told Moses that He would fight for him; all he needed to do was stand still. (Exodus 14:14) God fights for you! He protects and provides for you.

Like me, you may have gotten married to fulfill your maiden rescue fantasies. Though my husband does an amazing job of still sweeping me off my feet, throughout my day I spend more time resonating with a pauper in the dungeon of diapers, Duplos, and defiant wills than with the pursued princess of a pristine castle.

However, in every dungeon God is shouting out, I am your mighty warrior. I will never stop fighting for you. I have and will rescue you from every sin, hardship, and tear streaming down your face. I am your constant companion and the soldier for your soul.

In chapter 19 of the book of Revelation, our final rescue is described like this, “For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear!”

Imagine a shopping spree to find the finest, most beautiful ensemble you have ever dreamed of wearing. I am guessing it still may pail in comparison with wardrobe you will be given to wear on that fine day when your Prince swings down for his final rescue. It is valiant and will be victorious.

If you have never asked Jesus Christ to be the forgiver of your sins and the leader of your life, today you can be rescued from a life apart from God if you pray with me.

As we pray you will be saying that not only do you believe Jesus is the forgiver of your sins and the leader of your life, but you accept him as that based on John 1:12 that says, “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”

Dear Father, Thank you for the sacrifice of your son Jesus Christ for me. He suffered a sinners death though he was without sin. I realize there is nothing I can do to earn your forgiveness and I receive the gracious gift offered in the blood of Jesus Christ.  I give you my life to my Lord and leader. Thank you that I can now live forgiven and redeemed as your child. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you prayed to recieve the gift of Jesus Christ, please let me know so that I can pray for you and connect you with any resources to get you started in your amazing journey and friendship with our amazing Father! Praise the Lord, oh my soul and all that is within me!
