A Train Wreck.

Yesterday was a train wreck. The screetching of my three beautiful blessings derailed my emotions, plans, and parenting. Yes, we made it to the end of the day, but not without incurring the bumps and bruises of a deeply flawed day.

Even as I arose this morning, the failures of yesterday hung over my head and heart. God’s word says, “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23 NLT)

If there ever was a morning I needed to hear that, today was the day.

However, my spirit was still stuck.

It needed a moment to come before our Savior and say, “I am sorry. I was not the mommy I want to be or can be in your strength. Please forgive me.”

If we confess with our mouths, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9 NIV

This morning as I spent time journaling my prayers to God the Father, I confessed my anger, actions, and attitude to him.

He refreshed me, by reminding me that I am forgiven!

He renewed me, by reminding me that He designed my boys and entrusted them to my care!

He re-envisioned me that as I ask for help, he will equip me to raise them to bring out the uniqueness he weaved into the depths of their soul, for his one-of-a-kind purpose!

As I sit here at my local coffee shop, I see a man with his boy. Just about the age of my boys.

This father is having a date with his son. He is enjoying his son’s smile. He is treasuring each word and expression. He is catering to his son’s needs. He is building up his son’s spirit through his words and presence.

I am so grateful our heavenly Father does that with us.

Praise the Lord that we get a re-do with our children. One day at a time. God’s mercies begin afresh each day!

I think I need to go and schedule a date with my sons. How about you?
