What Are You Worth?

What Are You Worth?

What a special moment when an athlete climbs the podium to receive their gold medal and hear their anthem played. We watch in awe as their accomplishment crowns them with prestige and honor. But in some cases years, months, or even days later we hear the disturbing news. They have been stripped of their title for one reason or another. One moment gives them dignity and then they are stripped of it.

Mistakes Aren’t Made by The Maker

Mistakes Aren’t Made by The Maker

Have you ever created something from nothing? Do you craft or cook? Have you manipulated or built something with your hands?

Before my womb exploded with children, I loved to cook. I was no Iron chef but when I plated my culinary creation, I liked to dazzle the eye. The entree was delicately placed on the plate. The side dishes complimented to make the mouth water. And a little garnish was added to give it that something extra. The work of my hands displayed care and connection to my culinary creation.

Making Peace with your Mirror

Making Peace with your Mirror

“Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?” With magazine covers, red carpets, and a multi-billion dollar fashion industry, this famous line from Snow White is a question and answer we are forced to wrestle with from the time we are little girls.

I have a daughter. Did I mention that yet? I have three strapping sons and then a surprise fourth pregnancy produced a daughter. As I gaze down into her three-month-old eyes, I tell her how I see her.

My heart breaks to think that potentially one day she will look in the mirror and believe the antithesis of these truths. That like me, instead of seeing God’s glory in her appearance she will see garbage.Continue reading

Proof that God Won’t Leave You

Proof that God Won’t Leave You

Confession. One of my greatest fears is being abandoned. That my husband would leave me. To clarify, my hubby has never given me any reason to think this, but in those darkest moments and in the deepest places of my heart, it is a fear. What would I do then? How would I get through? Worse yet, what about God? Would he leave me?

“No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.” (Josh. 1:5).

This was a promise made to Joshua, a leader of God’s people, and it is a promise made to us throughout Scripture. What a wonder to know, God will never fail us. He will never leave us or let us down. He will be found faithful and present in our lives. How do we know? What’s our proof?Continue reading

Have You Taken Back What Was Stolen?

Have You Taken Back What Was Stolen?

Long, long ago there was a theft of drastic proportions. Something of great worth was stolen. One day Eve, the first created daughter of God, was strolling through the garden without any feelings of being defective, unacceptable, or fundamentally damaged as a woman. She had no shame. Yet, that was about to change.Continue reading
