A Soul Satisfying Encounter

Have you ever come to a worship service feeling one way and left with a completely different disposition? Have you come into church feeling discouraged or distracted and left feeling encouraged or focused? Have ever walked through the doors feeling isolated and alone and walked out knowing you have a great God and church community behind you? Have you ever sat down in the seats feeling empty and stood up to leave experiencing a fullness and filling you didn’t know possible?

Often, we think that a change occurred because of the lovely smiles on the nice people we sat around, the songs in worship were ones we love, or even the teacher spoke with great power that particular day. Of course, these are all tools God uses, but what we most likely experienced was the presence of the Living God.Continue reading

Delight that Calms the Deep

Birds chirping. A child sleeping. The massage room. A placid lake. These are all very calming images. However they don’t last very long. The bird flies away. The child wakes to cry “Mommy”. The massage ends and you have to drive home in traffic. A breeze blows by and the lake becomes tumultuous.

Our scripture however paints a different picture of God’s love. His delight, however, can calm your anxious storms. “He will quiet you with his love.” (Zephaniah 3:17) Because God delights in you rather an experience or accomplishment, even in the midst of hardship you can enjoy his delight. His delight is found in his abiding presence that quiets the turmoil in your soul.Continue reading
