3 Really Vital Reminders

I am so thankful for the amazing teachers at my son’s school. In a few weeks, the kids have some state-wide tests. The teachers know how draining this can be and wanted to give each child a strong start for the day. So they invited us parents to write a letter for each day of the week that our son will read before his tests. As I was writing one, I realized how important these reminders were for me to think and reflect on. How important they are for all of us to read and reflect on. Here is what I wrote to Micah.

First, remember you are never alone. God is always with you in Spirit. Whenever you want you can say, “Jesus, help me.” Do you remember your verse from Springhill Camp, “Do not be afraid of discouraged for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). Remember he is always with you, you are never alone.

Second, remember who you are. You are a son of the King, a child of God. You are loved, valued, treasured, chosen, seen, worthy, and adored just as you are. NO MATTER what score you get, what success you have or mistakes you make, you are loved no matter what! You are his and you are our son.

Third, remember how God made you. He has made you with laser eyes that pay attention to details, a passionate heart that fights for good, a fun spirit that loves to laugh and make friends, steady hands that can navigate any challenge, and a strong mind that can think and strategize through anything.

Micah, you’ve got this because God’s got you. Love, Mom and Dad

After reading this, I realized how important it is for each of us to remember these vital things.

  1. Remember you are never alone.

  2. Remember who you are.

  3. Remember how God made you.

As we reflect on these three things, I believe they will give us the reason to lift our head up from any difficulty, to close any distance we feel from God or conquer any discouragement we might be facing.

Remember, you’ve got this because God’s got you.

(This blog dedicated to Micah on his 10th birthday - I am so grateful God gave us you!)
