It isn’t finished.

I might be alone here, but my heart wasn’t fully satisfied with the way we worshiped this Easter weekend, as we sheltered-in-place during Covid-19.

That’s not to say that God isn’t enough or that our churches didn’t do an amazing job creating worshipful online experiences. They did. It’s just that I couldn’t hear your voice join mine as we worshiped our King.

But maybe God wants to use our dissatisfaction to spur us on, our discontent to get us going.

I would propose, it isn’t finished.  The King has come. But his Kingdom, in all its fullness, is still breaking through. It isn’t finished. Which means we’re not finished. We might be held up. But we aren’t finished because he’s not.

Go with me for a minute and read Matthew 18 as translated by The Message.

“Look at it this way. If someone has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders off, doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine and go after the one? And if he finds it, doesn’t he make far more over it than over the ninety-nine who stay put? Your Father in heaven feels the same way. He doesn’t want to lose even one of these simple believers.”

I can only imagine that at a time when …

·       Families are sacrificing loved ones to serve on the front lines

·       Providers have lost their jobs

·       Parents are learning to be teachers

·       The elderly are scared for their lives and

·       Leaders are carrying the weight of the world…

There are sheep who need found and others who’ve gone missing.

It’s our time to follow the good Shepherd and go after his sheep. In other words, it’s our time to partner with God and pursue the people he cares about. All people.

I am not sure if that challenge hits you over the head or grabs hold of what is already stirring in your heart. And I don’t know what God might be inviting you to step into?

Maybe it’s to reach out to family or an isolated neighbor. Maybe it’s to trust his provision or rest in his love. Maybe it’s to choose faith over fear or share your story of peace out loud.

I don’t know what your invitation might be, but for me, it’s to keep encouraging others to purse God in life, love, and leadership, especially at this time when we will do so, one imperfect step at a time.

To do that a NEW and IMPROVED website, at ErinNicoleThompson.com has just released.

Would you check it, stay tuned, and share it?

I’m excited to announce that my man and champion, David John Thompson, will be sharing his heart on the blog, next week. You won’t want to miss it and I’m sure it would bless someone you know.

I believe it is a season where we need to walk boldly into the throne room or any room with prayer, passion, and in the victory of Christ.

My heart echo’s the Psalms when David says, “Why so downcast oh your soul, put your hope in God.” It is a season where we need to take hold of the hope of Christ each and every day as we pull our hair out trying to school our kids and learn how to breathe in a mask! AH!

I am praying for you and would love to know how to specifically intercede for you. We are stronger together. And stronger yet when we pray for one another.

Meanwhile, the eleven disciples were on their way to Galilee, headed for the mountain Jesus had set for their reunion. The moment they saw him they worshiped him. Some, though, held back, not sure about worship, about risking themselves totally.

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:16-20 The Message).

It isn’t finished. But he is with us to the finish. Let’s do this!
